My most popular topics are introduction to grants, advancing digital literacy, how to get started with online training, library advocacy, training and grants planning and evaluation and train-the-tech-trainer.
I provide online training, in-person workshops, and training and evaluation consultations for clients around the world and online. I am an Outreach and Training Consultant for Techsoup for Libraries. Some of my recent projects include evaluation of the Infopeople Eureka! Leadership program, facilitator/online trainer for the Public Library Association's national advocacy project, Turning the Page 2.0, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. I also consult with TechSoup and PLA on the technology benchmarking project, the Edge Initiative. I lead a month long train-the-trainer course through PLA, to be offered again in fall 2013,The Accidental Public Library Technology Trainer. I live in Seattle, WA with my husband and charming five-year-old daughter.
Author
Stephanie is an author of three books,  
Winning Grants: A How-To-Do-It Manual for Librarians with Multimedia Tutorials and Grant Development Tools, published by Neal-Schuman and highly recommended by Booklist; The Accidental Technology Trainer, published by Information Today, and Grants for Librarieswhich received a starred review in Library Journal. She has published over 30 articles and co-authors the Library Grants Blog, which lists grant announcements for libraries.

Training

Having done a variety of training during her library career for all types of libraries and nonprofits, Stephanie has presented at national conferences and conducted training across the world. She has been involved in technology training throughout her library career and has trained librarians, systems administrators, homeless children, university students and faculty, teachers in rural South Africa, and senior citizens. Her online training reaches international audiences, including Asia, Africa, Europe, South America, and Australia. 

Formerly a trainer for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s U.S. Library Program, Stephanie worked with many public libraries, either traveling to their site or conducting week-long train-the-trainer programs. She is a certified trainer for the Public Library Association in strategic planning, facilitation, staffing, and advocacy.

Program Management and Consulting

Stephanie has managed statewide library training programs at New Mexico and Arizona State Libraries, including administration of numerous Technology Institutes, Library Institutes, and customized on-site training programs for public libraries. She designed outcome-based needs assessment and evaluation, core competencies, and training plans including coordinating and marketing over 100 continuing education trainings a year. She designed and implemented a training initiative for frontline staff under the IMLS Outcome Based Evaluation Task Force on Library Continuing Education.

She managed a corporate library as a systems administrator; worked for SIRSI as a traveling trainer; performed as a library cataloger; and taught web-based distance education technology courses on information literacy and online learning for advanced degree university students.


Grant Experience

Stephanie has success in all areas of grant work as a reviewer, writer, trainer, project manager, evaluator, and consultant. She has presented grant training sessions and workshops at national library conferences (including ALA, PLA, Internet Librarian, and others), and has conducted over 30 grant trainings for libraries and nonprofits. She recently conducted grant training for the California Staff Innovation Fund project. She has written over twenty grant publications, including two books. 

Education

Stephanie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with a concentration in technical writing, and a Master of Science degree in Library and Information Science with a concentration in Corporate Information from the University of Tennessee.
